Outdoorsy Enough

Outdoorsy Enough

You are outdoorsy enough—

Even if you’d rather sleep in a cabin than on the ground.

Even if you’ve only tent camped a handful of times, or— gasp— never.

Even if you only hike popular trails.

Even if you drive up to the campsite rather than backpack to it.

Even if you still like to do touristy things when you travel.

Even if you weren’t raised in an outdoorsy family.

Even if you’ve only been to a couple National Parks.

Even if you still feel intimidated when you step foot in an REI.

Even if you’re just now learning things that other outdoorsy people have known for years.

Even if other outdoorsy people on the internet make you feel like you’re not outdoorsy enough.

If you love the outdoors, if you feel refreshed and renewed by spending time in nature, if you strive to be a good steward of this earth we’re blessed to live on—

You are outdoorsy enough.

These are words I wish someone had said to younger me, who longed to be “outdoorsy” but felt excluded by the community I wanted to be a part of— so I’m putting them out here for anyone else who needs to hear that they are outdoorsy enough, too. 🤍
